Sources close to the information have informed us that world-class Strength & Conditioning Coach Alex Ariza will be working with former jr. welterweight champion Marcos Maidana as he prepares for his highly-anticipated clash with WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner. Ariza recently teamed up with world-class trainer Robert Garcia to help him prepare undefeated former featherweight champion Mikey Garcia for his upcoming move to super featherweight to challenge Roman Martinez for the WBO title. He’s also working with another one of Garcia fighters, former lightweight champion Brandon Rios, as they prepare to face Ariza’s most famous previous client, multi-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
According to our sources, Maidana has already been working with Ariza for nearly 2 weeks, participating in early morning training sessions with Rios and Garcia. Although Maidana already had someone else on his team responsible for his conditioning, we’re told that he’s so focused on defeating Broner this December that he insisted on taking his training to the next level. Obviously since Robert Garcia is his trainer and is already working closely with Ariza for two of his fighters, adding him to Maidana’s team is the logical decision.
