SHELLY FINKEL, the New York-based manager of Manny Pacquiao, said yesterday that he can help the Filipino southpaw extricate himself from his legal problem stemming from the contracts that he signed with Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank.
“If he wants my help, I will fly out (of here) to be in General Santos City immediately so we could talk,” Finkel told the Bulletin from the Big Apple.
Finkel said he is willing to cross the Pacific at a short notice if Pacquiao seeks for his advice just like what Top Rank big boss did during the Christmas holidays when he boarded went straight to Pacquiao’s native GenSan.
“You see, I really want to help this kid,” said Finkel, whose managerial rights over Pacquiao expires on January 31.
While Pacquiao has an April 28 date to face Injin Chi under Top Rank, there seems to be a sense of concern over the status of that fight since Arum has yet to make a formal announcement.
Arum plans to provide the detals of Pacquiao’s next fight when the fighter arrives in Los Angeles anytime within the next few days.
While information regarding the March 17 bout between Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez is splashed all over the papers and in the internet, there’s not one concrete bit of detail from top Rank concerning Pacquiao’s clash with Chi at the Wynn Casino and Hotel in Macau.
Pacquiao’s handlers insist the fight is on for that date and that it will be held in Macau and there are only minor details that are going to be straightened out.
Pacquiao’s stock rose even further following his third-round knockout win over Erik Morales.
