THE Cebu City Sports Commission is eyeing Barangay Pasil to become the boxing capital of the country.
CCSC will start implementing a year-round amateur boxing competition in the different barangays in the city with emphasis on the weekly competition at the Sports Institute, which is located in Pasil?a stone?s throw away from Pasil Fish Port.
?We will be implementing the Boxing sa Barangay concept by next month. The concept is to hold a boxing competition one barangay at a time, whole year round,? CCSC chairman Edward Hayco told Sun.Star Cebu.
Through this effort, CCSC hopes to discover a new breed of boxers, especially those coming from the slum areas and mountain barangays.
?We are also holding a weekly boxing competition at the sports institute and hopefully turn Pasil into a boxing capital of the Philippines. We hope we will be able to accomplish it,? added Hayco.
