LOS ANGELES ? As soon as he capped his final workout at the Wild Card Boxing Club on Sunday afternoon, Manny Pacquiao was besieged by US-based Filipinos for autographs and pictures. Despite the energy-sapping sparring during which he notched 135 rounds of sparring, Pacquiao still managed to sign shirts and pad papers and even pose a few times before finding comfort in his bed at the Vagabond Inn, a stone?s throw away from the famous sweat shop owned by his trainer Freddie Roach.
In less than 24 hours, Pacquiao would be on board a van en route to Las Vegas in anticipation of a tough showdown with Mexico?s Juan Manuel Marquez set May 8 at the MGM Grand.
And instead of lying there with his eyes closed, Pacquiao slid open the drawer and out came a note pad.
He then wrote across the May 2 entry: three rounds.
“Three rounds for a total of 135 rounds since March 29,” said Pacquiao in English. “Mas marami pa ito sa inispar ko nung lumaban kay Barrera.”
