Hit and don’t get hit – Big Floyd’s philosophy is right

Fans in the boxing world love a knockout. They love to see someone beat the brakes off their opponent and they love to see a mouthpiece fly across the ring. It’s the action that the fans love. The sweet science is much more than just a knockout though.

Floyd Mayweather Jr takes a lot of flack for not being as offensive minded as other fighters. Floyd likes defense, but let there be no mistake, he can dish it out when he wants to. The question is, why should he if he doesn’t need to? Floyd has the ability to hit and not get hit. This is something his father stresses. Big Floyd is big about hitting but not getting hit. This philosophy may not be the fan favorite, but at the end of the day, it saves careers, and it possibly saves lives.

Why take excessive punishment to the face and the head if you don’t have to? Some fighters choose to war it up, and fight in a phone booth. Some fighters don’t posses the skills to fight defensively, so they just go all out war. Floyd Mayweather has the talent to choose.

When a fighter retires from boxing, they in many cases suffer from the effects of a long career filled with injuries, and blows to the head. They have memory loss, speech issues, vision issues, balance issues, all due to excessive punishment. If a fighter has the skills to box without having to get punished in return, he would be a fool not to fight that way.

Floyd Mayweather love him or hate him has the talent to choose his style. If he chooses to hit and not get hit, then so be it.
