Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello will undergo surgery on his right shoulder July 15 at the Makati Medical Center. Promoter and manager Aljoe Jaro informed philboxing that the MRI of the injured shoulder needed before the operation has already been taken.
Jaro has also informed that Don Jose Sulaiman, the President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), has promised to contact the Board of Governors and is optimistic that they will respond favorably to Team Cuello?s request for a rematch against strawweight champion Xiong Zhao Zhong of China.
Team Cuello filed a protest through legal counsel Atty. Richard Flores citing the failure of the WBC fight supervisor in Dubai to conduct tests for banned substances.Cuello lost by majority decision in that fight that saw him knock down Zhong in the opening round. But the southpaw Cuello had to endure fighting with an injured right shoulder.
Jaro also said that the WBC has contacted KO Promotions who has promised to pay the purses of the protagonists in full and also for the insurance for any injuries during the fight which would benefit Cuello in terms of having his hospital bills paid in full.
