LOS ANGELES — Now that Dwight Howard has left this great basketball city, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers will have to settle with Chris Kaman at center.
The 7-foot, 265-pound Kaman agreed to a one-year worth just under $3.5 million to join the Lakers, reports ESPN.com. Kaman is a 10-year NBA veteran who played eight years with the Los Angeles Clippers and a year each in New Orleans and Dallas, where he averaged 10.5 points and 5.6 rebounds last season.
“It’s true. I’m going back to L.A. and it’s to play for the Lakers! I’m excited about this move and can’t wait to play!, tweeted Kaman, who played only 20.7 minutes a game under Mavericks coach Ric Carlisle.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the 31-year old Kaman went to college in Central Michigan University and picked No.6 in the opening round of the 2003 NBA draft. Kaman, dual citizen of the United States and Germany, pocketed $8 million last season. (KMR)
