BOXING champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s is undergoing a “regular executive check-up” at the Cardinal Senator Medical Center in San Juan, where he was admitted Monday afternoon, his chief of staff said Tuesday.
Jake Hozon assured Pacquiao’s fans there is no need to worry because the check-up forms part of the general routine the champion follows after a boxing match.
“This is the first time he was admitted to the hospital since his fight with Morales…but this was just a regular executive check-up,” said Hozon in a phone interview.
Pacquiao was admitted to the hospital 4 pm Monday and will stay there Wednesday, said Hozon.
Reports Monday said Pacquiao was rushed to the hospital because of “acid reflux,” a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates and inflames the lining of the esophagus.
Hozon acknowledged that Pacquiao had earlier been diagnosed with ulcers and has been placed on a special diet.
However, this time, he said, Pacquiao just needs to rest.
