WBC President Jose Sulaiman responded today to 8CN regarding the controversy that has plagued Denver Cuello since his majority loss, shoulder surgery, then financial hardship with promoter KO Promotions.
Chinese champion Xiong Zhao Zhong, whom Cuello dropped in the first round but went on the fight the remainder of the bout one handed , still managing to make to fight close enough for controversy, is awaiting the WBC?s next move.
In a statement today, after being forwarded our article yesterday, Jose Sulaiman responded that he is;
?Deeply embarrassed and will pursue this matter to correct it. I will also recommend to the WBC Board a rematch after one voluntary defense.”
This should give Cuello time to heal after the surgery required to fix a torn rotator cuff. Unfortunately his surgery is being rescheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Makati Medical Center.
Sulaiman has already promised that the WBC is ready to take some actions, which now includes asking for a rematch.
