After knocking out Manny Pacquiao in their fourth encounter last year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Juan Manuel Marquez said he is finished with the eight-division world champion. The Mexican counter-puncher said there is nothing more to prove against Pacquiao, asserting that he practically won all four previous fights against the Filipino star. Officially, Pacquiao has beaten Marquez twice and got a draw verdict in their first fight back in 2004. “The feeling that I have from that victory [over Pacquiao] is very rewarding,” said Marquez. “It is something that I will keep with me for the rest of my life. Money isn’t the most important factor.” “Honour comes first. My personal honour and the honour of my people come first,” Marquez added. “The feeling that I have from that victory [over Pacquiao] is very rewarding. But at the news conference he had with the press in Beverly Hills to promote his upcoming fight with Timothy Bradley, he seems to be considering another encounter with the eight-division world champion, provided the fight is held in Mexico. ?We offered that to Team Pacquiao and they rejected it,? Marquez said. ?If the Pacquiao team tells me they want to fight in Mexico, yes, I will fight him. ?But I want to leave with the feeling I had? in December after knocking Pacquiao out cold. ?I want to keep that feeling forever.? Marquez has been looking at winning five titles in as many weight classes. And if he does against Bradley, he needs to win in three more to tie Pacquiao’s record as the concurrent eight-division champion. It is uncertain though if he could match Pacquiao’s record as he will turn 40 in August but he claims his age does not matter to him, adding that he has always been in top shape. But everyone knows Marquez wants another crack at Pacquiao for a much bigger purse after he is done with Bradley.
