What’s next in the Pacman plot, the soap opera like story line of the world’s most exciting fighter, Manny Pacquiao? Does the plot sicken or thicken? Are there more pages to be written regarding his promoter(s), his trainer and his overall entourage?
It says here in www.boxingconfidential.com land that the answers to those burning questions are yes, yes and oh, yes.
Trainer Freddie Roach, who seems to have bet on the wrong promotional jockey (GBP over Bob Arum’s Top Rank), is headed to the Philippines in about two weeks to film a lucrative commercial along with Packman and Erik Morales. All three will be paid handsomely by San Miguel Beer.
You can be sure that trip will as, Roach informed me earlier, turn out to be the right time for Coach Roach and his star pupil to sit down for a heart to heart rap session in which they clear the air on all boxing topics.
Now we learn that Oscar de la Hoya will be spending a considerable amount of time in the beautiful Philippines in regards to Golden Boy’s huge World Cup, Mexico vs. the Philippines, which takes place in Cebu on March 4.
Oscar will be in the PI in about three weeks for a press conference and wouldn’t it be interesting if he, Roach and Pacman are all in the country at the same time. Agent Michael Koncz, the Top Rank protector, may have to issue an Amber Alert or something as drastic.
Of course, you can figure Oscar to return for about a week prior to the March 4 super show. Finally, does anyone know or care whether Michael Koncz slept next to Pacman’s bed as New Year’s Eve turned into 2007?
I had a dream about this the other night in a way. I dreamed that Condi Rice was sleeping on the floor at the White House next to President Bush’s bed. The dream turned into a nightmare when Laura Bush came on the scene.
