Former undisputed middleweight world champion Kelly Pavlik is known to be a bit of a prankster, and he got yours truly with a recent Facebook posting. Pavlik posted that he just signed a contract to fight Carl Froch. Naturally, I called the champ up to confirm this news and fell into his trap.
Once we got past the joke on yours truly, the topic took a more serious tone. Pavlik informed 8CountNews that he suffered three recent brain seizures. These seizures are the reason why he was forced to retire from boxing. The former champ tells 8CN that the seizures happened all within 4 months of each other. As a result, he can no longer fight or partake in any strenuous type of activity that could apply pressure to his head.
We also talked about how some fighters squander their earnings over their careers. Pavlik tells 8CN that he is very financially secure, and would like to start a career training fighters. Another avenue he would like to take is to get into broadcasting.
Pavlik also breaks down the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Vs. Canelo Alvarez fight. He talks about the key things that Alvarez would have to do in order to beat a Floyd Mayweather.
