SHELLY Finkel on Friday said he was disappointed over Manny Pacquiao’s choice of promoter and alluded to some of Bob Arum’s statements as “false.”
“Bob Arum is incorrect as usual,” Finkel told Boxingconfidential.com, referring to Arum’s statements that his managerial rights over Pacquiao had expired last August.
“The date of expiration is incorrect. A fighter always needs the right manager, so that a lawyer doesn’t let him sign two contracts.”
Finkel said the right manager would not have let Pacquiao sign any contract.
“I told Manny how I got him out of his problems with Murad [Muhammad] and also the [United States] government over taxes he owed,” Finkel said.
“I also told him how I got him for the second Morales fight twice as much as what he got for [the first] Morales [fight] which he lost. He told me I didn’t need to remind him of what I did for him.
“I really like Manny and wish him well. But I can’t help being angry at Manny for his lack of loyalty and his bad choices,” Finkel stated.
