Will history be on Mexican dual champion Juan Manuel Marquez?s side when he faces Manny Pacquiao on May 8?
The man sitting on the featherweight throne of the International Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Association (WBA) looks to extend his winning run against lefties — three of whom Marquez defeated in the last three years.
One of those southpaw-stanced fighters was Derrick Gainer, the American Marquez beat last November to wrest the WBA belt.
Since the turn of the 21st century, Marquez has also yet to lose in the state of Nevada. He is also unbeaten in four Las Vegas-based bouts since 2000.
Marquez, who holds a 42-2 career record, has also beaten two Filipinos — both within three rounds.
