Timothy Bradley’s manager denies report next fight is against Juan Manuel Marquez and has been set

Timothy Bradley?s manager Cameron Dunkin denied an ESPN Deportes report the WBO welterweight champion will fight boxing superstar Juan Manuel Marquez in September in Las Vegas.

?We don?t know anything about it, I don?t know anything about it. I know Monica (Bradley, his wife) and Tim don?t know anything about it,? Dunkin said in a brief telephone conversation before having to take another call.

A fight between Bradley and Marquez would pit the two boxers who have beaten superstar Manny Pacquiao in 2012. Bradley scored a split decision victory over Pacquiao in June and Marquez knocked out the Filipino superstar in December.

Top Rank, which promotes Bradley, hinted at the fight when it ran photos of Bradley and Marquez together during the Brandon Rios-Mike Alvarado fight last month.

Bradley has become a highly-buzzed fighter after his brutal unanimous decision victory over Ruslan Provodnikov in March at the Home Depot Center, which is a leading candidate for Fight of the Year honors.

Bradley appeared to be out on his feet in the first two rounds, and later said he suffered from a concussion early in the fight against the hard-hitting Russian.

Marquez has fought Pacquiao three other times, all controversial losses for the Mexican superstar. But Marquez knocked Pacquiao down twice in December, including the knockout blow in the sixth round that had Pacquiao face down and unconscious for over two minutes.

There had been talks Marquez and Pacquiao would stage a fifth fight in their epic rivalry. However, negotiations appear to have fallen apart and the 39-year-old Marquez has turned his interest in winning another world title in the fifth different weight class.

The fight against Marquez would be attractive for Bradley. Marquez has a huge following from Mexico and the Sept. 14 date puts it on the weekend of Mexican Independence Day, a popular and lucrative fight date.

However, if negotiations have fallen apart for Marquez-Pacquiao V, then Bradley would be an attractive opponent for Pacquiao as well. Bradley earned a career-best $5 million purse against Pacquiao, with a contract that also had pay-per-view bonuses.

However, Pacquiao has shown interest in having his next fights in Asia to avoid the big tax hit he would have to take in the United States.
