Up until Saturday night, it may have looked like a fifth fight with Juan Manuel M?rquez was more likely to happen for Manny Pacqui?o than any other potential fight. That all changed when Timothy Bradley played a part in what could be the 2013 fight of the year against Ruslan Provodnikov.
Heading into Saturday night, most boxing fans and experts expected Timothy Bradley to easily outpoint Ruslan Provodnikov, but that couldn’t have been further from what actually happened. Provodnikov consistently hurt Bradley throughout the fight and many people believed the referee should have stepped in, stopped the fight and awarded Provodnikov with a TKO win.

In case you didn’t see the fight, Bradley somehow survived the beating and won a controversial decision. The win led many people to call Timothy Bradley the “Tim Tebow” of boxing because he doesn’t see to have a lot of talent, but he continues to get wins despite his deficiencies.
Now that Timothy Bradley was in such an exciting fight, there will without a doubt be a mainstream desire to see him back in the ring again soon. It’s also worth noting that Provodnikov’s trainer for the bout was Freddie Roach. Roach is also famously the trainer of Manny Pacqui?o.
Obviously, Roach has discovered a huge weakness of Bradley’s and Provodnikov was able to expose it time and time again on Saturday night. Considering Timothy Bradley also won a very controversial decision over Manny Pacqui?o not too long ago, it would not make more sense than ever to make the rematch happen.
Most people would agree that Manny Pacqui?o easily won the first fight, but now that Timothy Bradley has been exposed, Pacqui?o would probably win by knockout.
There are still plenty of fans that want Manny Pacqui?o to continue fighting, but he desperately needs to take an easy fight that can build some of his confidence back up. A rematch with Timothy Bradley would sell a ton of tickets, make a ton of sense and it would not be anywhere near the risk of a fifth fight against Juan Manuel M?rquez.
