ALCALA, Cagayan, March 18 (PIA) — People?s Champ, Saranggani Congressman Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao, inspired thousands of poor striving Cagayanos in his visit here yesterday.
The Philippine pride boxing icon served as the guest of honor in the birthday celebration of Agbiag Partylist Representative Patrick Antonio Sunday at Alcala gymnasium this town.
Thousands of barangay folks and the whole local officialdom of Cagayan welcomed Pacquiao in his first ever visit in the province.
Pacquiao said his life is a living testimony how one strives hard to reach his ultimate goal in life for prosperity. He stated that one should not give up, whether in times of success or failure, and continue work and achieve one?s dream in life.
?I am not a candidate in this place but my heart belongs to you because your officials (the Antonios) are my families too. They are close friends of mine,? Pacquaio said.
Pacquiao also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the usual support of Cagayan as he believes that Cagayano people never failed to support him during times of his battle not only inside the boxing ring but also in life to bring pride to the country.
?I would not be as Manny Pacquiao now without your support. Thank you that in times of our success and even during our failure, you are still there supporting me,? Pacquaio said.
The boxing icon also appreciated the warm hospitality of Cagayanos which he did not expect as well as the beauty and bounty of Cagayan province.
He also stated that he wants to build a rest house in the province for him to stay when he wants to visit and explore Cagayan?s nature. (OTB-PIA 2)
