Manny Pacqui?o Thinks He?s Too Young To Retire

Let’s face it, the boxing world just does not feel the same without Manny Pacqui?o. Sure there’s Floyd Mayweather, but a lot of people can’t stand him. Since getting knocked out cold by Juan Manuel M?rquez in their fourth fight, many people have urged Manny Pacqui?o to retire. Pacman fans can sleep comfortably tonight because their favorite fighter has no intentions of calling it quits just yet.

“I am just 34 [years old],” Pacqui?o told Lee Jimenez of InterAKTV just before heading back to General Santos City.

As strange as it sounds, 34-years-old is young in today’s boxing world. However, everyone ages differently and a lot of that depends on the style of boxer. In Manny Pacqui?o’s case, he has aged much quicker than the average fighter.

Unlike Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacqui?o has always have a fan-friendly style. That means he puts everything he has into every fight he has ever had. Pacqui?o is always the aggressor and he has always been willing to take a punch in-order to give a punch. He has had his fair share of wars and even when he won impressively, he never took a round off.

Pacqui?o fans may not want to see him retire, but father time is undefeated. The fact is, Manny Pacqui?o is just a shell of his former self. Of course he can still be entertaining in the ring and he can still compete against the best in the world. Unfortunately, he is no longer a top five pound-for-pound fighter.

Manny Pacqui?o may feel like he is young and after just seeing a 48-year-old Bernard Hopkins win the light heavyweight championship, he probably believes he is too young to retire. But Pacqui?o needs to be very careful not to overstay his welcome in the squared circle. He has a lot going for him outside of the ring and we would hate to see him get seriously injured.
