NBA - LeBron's knee ok, will play today

CHICAGO -- While attempting to catch a friendly lob in the third quarter of yesterday's Miami Heat-New York Knicks game at the Madison Square Garden, LeBron James made an awkward landing that had disaster written all over it.

As the Heat forward and reigning league MVP winced in pain and gingerly picked himself up, the entire state of Florida held its collective breath as the fate of their NBA title defense hung dangerously in the balance.

But, alas, King James is okay. Very much alive and well.

According to ESPN.com, Knicks doctors who examined the nine-time All-Star's knee determined that James "avoided serious damage." The report said James will no longer require an MRI and that he is expected to suit up Monday night in Minneapolis , where the Heat face the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center and try to extend their wining streak to 15 games.

The undisputed leader of the Miami Heat pack, James is a shoo-in to win another regular season MVP, the fourth in five years. He scored 29 points yesterday in Miami's 99-93 triumph over the Knicks.(Homer Sayson)
