Assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez made this assurance yesterday, saying nothing much to worry about Manny Pacquiao?s health.
?Right now, it?s just an infection on his tonsils,? said Fernandez a week after Pacquiao?s sensational three-round stoppage of Mexican Erik Morales.
The Filipino ring idol has been nursing a sore throat and a slight fever since the day before his big fight in Las Vegas, Nevada.
?Masigla pa naman siya (He?s still upbeat),? said Fernandez.
Doctors have required Pacquiao to a rest and to take some medication since arriving in Manila last Friday.
?Hindi namin talaga alam kung saan niya nakuha yun, mahirap magbintang (We really don?t know where he contracted it, it?s hard to accuse somebody),? laughed Fernandez.
However, it had been a non-stop series of celebration and media appearances for the well-loved sports hero since he arrived.
More frenzied activities are expected in the following weeks, perhaps until Pacquiao celebrates his 28th birthday on Dec. 17.
?Yung people?s champion natin, pahinga lang talaga ang kailangan (Our people?s champion only needs to rest),? Fernandez insisted.
