EX-CHAMP SCORES ONE PUNCH KO
Hidalgo, TX-Juan Manuel Marquez continued his streak of exciting wins with his second knockout in a row. This time the victim was top Filipino prospect, Jimrex Jaca, knocking out the youngster in the ninth round with one left hand. Jaca, now 27-3-1 (12 KOs), did surprisingly well in the first four rounds, pressuring the veteran featherweight. However, that opened Jaca up to sharp counter-punching by Marquez, who was looking for a statement win. While Marquez took control of the bout by round five, blood streamed from his forehead from a Jaca head butt, adding to the drama of Marquez?s victory.

Ineffective with the left hook for most of this fight, Marquez was finally able land his best weapon after blinding and staggering Jaca with a right hook. Jaca?s legs stiffened and Marquez sneak a strong left hook through the guard, ending Jaca?s night, who wasn?t aware he was being counted out. Marquez, 46-3-1 (35 KOs), is currently the toughest opponent for the reigning super featherweight king, Manny Pacquiao. Meanwhile, Jaca was knocked out for the second time in his career, but with an impressive showing on HBO, may have received the biggest ?lift? of his career.
