The People?s Champ is back!
Barely a week after his third round mauling of Mexican ring terror Erik ?El Terrible? Morales, World Boxing Council (WBC) International Superfeatherweight champion Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao has returned to the Philippines.
Pacquiao arrived at around 5:45 a.m. Friday and was met by his mother, sons and a legion of politicians and fans at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2.
A daylong tribute, led by Manila mayor Lito Atienza, will be held for Pacquiao across the city.
But before that, Pacquiao will first hear mass at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo at 8 a.m., followed by a courtesy call on Atienza at the Manila City Hall. A press conference will follow at the city hall?s Bulwagang Antonio Villegas.
After the press conference, Pacquiao pay a courtesy call on Pres. Arroyo in Malaca?an, followed by a motorcade across the city.
The motorcade is expected to start at the city hall and end at the Manila Zoo.
Other roads, city districts and landmarks where the motorcade is expected to pass through are Jones bridge, Escolta, Plaza Sta. Cruz, Dasmari?as, Quintin Paredes, Reina Regente, Claro M. Recto, Delpan, Zaragoza, R-10, Moriones, Juan Luna, Tayuman, A.H. Lacson, Nagtahan, Jesus, Laura, Dr. M. Careon, Tejeron, A. Francisco, Rubi, Diamante, San Andres, A. Linao, Pres. Quirino and M. Adriatico.
In the evening, a grand victory party organized by the city government will be held at the Raja Sulayman Park. The party will feature top performers plus special numbers by Pacquiao himself.
