LAS VEGAS ? “Elvis Presley” is a hardcore Manny Pacquiao fan.
Don Rose, an Elvis impersonator, was at the lobby of the Tower Suites of the Wynn Las Vegas Monday noon when another king descended from the elevator as he was preparing to leave for Los Angeles.
Carrying a guitar, Pacquiao was being tailed by his LA-based friends, a couple of training assistants and fans when he was greeted by the Elvis copycat.
They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries and even struck a pose for the cameras.
“I know that he is a strong fighter,” said ??Elvis?? with his trademark drawl, obviously aware of what Pacquiao did to Mexican Erik Morales Saturday night at the Thomas and Mack Center.
On the eve of his departure for California, Pacquiao attended a Cirque de Soleil-inspired Beatles show and he was so excited by what he saw that he bought a Beatles shirt afterwards which he wore on the trip to his two-bedroom apartment at The Palazzo.
Despite “Elvis??? adulation, one is almost certain that Pacquiao has been converted to a true-blue Beatles fan. No one can blame him though. ?Nick GIONGCO
