Anyone with a pulse who likes boxing saw the right hand that Juan Manuel Marquez threw that sent an 8 division world champion crashing to the floor. Pacquiao was brutally knocked out and it took several minutes for him to regain consciousness. These types of knockouts can be hard to recover from. In many cases fighters that get knocked out that viciously never are the same. I’m not sure if this will be the case with Pacquiao, only time will tell.
I have been all over Twitter and Facebook and in boxing forums reading what people are saying in the aftermath of all this. I have to say, it’s troublesome to say the least. I have seen floods of photo shopped pictures of Manny, disrespectful comments about him, mocking him and belittling the man. Why this level of hatred? It’s rather strange to be honest.

You don’t have to be a fan of Manny Pacquiao if you don’t want to be, but one should at least respect him. He’s represented this sport with class and dignity. When Pacquiao was absolutely robbed against Tim Bradley, you didn’t hear much complaining from him. He didn’t go onto Twitter like a lot of fighters do to complain and gripe about it. He didn’t talk negatively about Bradley either. He just moved on past it and on to the next fight.
This guy in my opinion is owed a huge debt of gratitude. I for one have thoroughly enjoyed watching him from day one, all the way up until last Saturday night. He’s injected electricity into the sport of boxing. He put boxing back on the map worldwide. He stays out of trouble, and he remains pretty darn humble for a guy with global status.

I am not sure what Manny will do going forward. Bob Arum told me a few days ago that no talks about a future fight will take place until after the New Year. Pacquiao is going to spend time with his family. He needs to do exactly that. After the New Year he should think hard about what he wants to do with his boxing career. He’s got nothing else to prove to anyone. He’s a first ballot hall of famer. Let’s thank this guy for the memories, and wish him the best. Let’s not be hateful toward a man that has done nothing wrong to anyone. Thanks Manny, I for one send my gratitude.
