LOS ANGELES-Newly crowned World Boxing Organization heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster and People’s Featherweight king Manny Pacquiao showed great admiration for each other when the latter dropped by late Monday afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing gym here.
Just as when Pacquiao was completing his final exercises after another bruising 10 rounds of sparring, Brewster showed up to thank Freddie Roach, Macka Folley and the rest of the Wild Card gang following his sensational fifth round knockout of Wladimir Klitschko only two nights ago at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas.
“You have a big heart,” said Pacquiao, who climbed down the ring to congratulate Brewster. Pacquiao watched on cable TV Brewster’s classic triumph, when he bounced back from a fourth round knockdown to score a stunning reversal, when referee Robert Byrd stopped the fight at the end of the round.
