I’ll be the first to tell anyone that asks, that I have been critical of certain members of Team Pacquiao. One thing is for certain though, I have always and will continue to respect Manny Pacquiao himself. Last night Manny stepped back into the boxing ring, and once again he like all fighters risked his life. The degree of hate and venom that I see being said about this man is just terrible.
Why hate Manny Pacquiao? Sure, he’s not perfect but who is? He hasn’t been in trouble with the law. He doesn’t beat up women, and he hasn’t been disrespectful to anyone, so why all this venom toward him?

Truthfully, Pacquiao was beating Marquez last night until he got caught with that monster right hand. His head movement was brilliant, he looked fast, he looked pretty darn good. He got nailed by that right hand, sort of how Roy Jones Jr got caught by Antonio Tarver some years back. It happens in boxing.
There’s a lot of reasons for what happened last night. Pacquiao has definitely spread himself out very thin. He’s a fighter, a Congressman, an actor, a singer, a humanitarian, an idol to a nation and to many people around the world. All of this was bound to catch up to him sooner or later.
It must be pointed out that Juan Manuel Marquez deserves an awful lot of credit here. He’s been a nemesis of Pacquiao’s for years, and has proved that he is a great fighter, and he made his mark last night.

There was a lot of respect shown between the two fighters last night after the fight. It’s a telling fact that in most cases it’s the fans that spew hate, and the fighters that show respect. There’s no logical reason that anyone should be hateful toward Pacquiao. He has nothing to be ashamed of either. He’s a brave man, and he put his life on the line last night.
