Most of the free time in my schedule is reserved for catnaps and the Dave Chapelle show, so it?s a rare occasion when I escape my routine to visit one of Los Angeles? many excellent gyms. Since I have always been fond of Freddie Roach and his Wild Card Boxing gym, I decided to spend the afternoon there.
Wild Card is a quick drive from my house. The route is filled with pretty woman and a chili dog spot I love, so arrived in the parking feeling good. Located on Santa Monica Boulevard and Vine, Wild Card is a small gym tucked away inside a mini mall. Easy to miss if you?re not looking for it, the gym has a graffiti style paint job and can only be entered from the back. Once you can find it, it?s a fan?s heaven. With its interesting cast of regulars, familiar faces include seasoned fighters and Hollywood stars.
