On Tuesday in Las Vegas, inside the exclusive IBA gym, Filipino bomber Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao allowed the media a sneak peak into his final preparations for Saturday night?s third encounter with Tijuana?s toughest, Eric ?El Terrible? Morales.
Pacquiao and his team weren?t the only ones who broke a sweat, for everyone inside the private gym who joined them as the heater was blasting, helped to create extra steam for the man on display.
Several attendees wondered if the ?Pacman? was still needing to drop more than a few pounds before Friday?s weigh in?the answer, given when Pacquiao took off his sweats was, quite simply, ?no.?
?His weight has never been an issue,? said Pacquiao?s trainer, future Hall-of-Famer Freddie Roach.
?He started fighting at 106 pounds and, over the past year, he has become a natural super featherweight. His body type is perfect where it is at.
?We?ve sparred over 150 rounds. The kid is a freak when it comes to conditioning.?
Conditioning is surely to be a factor Saturday night as even Morales? own team has expressed concerns about making weight, acknowledging that while he will make weight, it?s unknown how the weight loss will affect performance.
Morales has stated that he wants to win this fight more than any other, not only for his fans or country, but for himself as a man; beating Pacquiao, he?s said, is too important to lose a fight on the scales.
During the media workout, Pacquiao appeared serious?much more so than during the week before his second meeting with Morales, when Pacquiao warmed up inside the same IBA gym singing along to his hit single ?Para Sayo,? from his debut CD while it played in the background.
?I am taking this fight very serious,? Pacquiao said Tuesday.
?I take all my fights serious, but I know that Morales is really wanting to win, and I know that he will try his hardest to win, so I always prepare.
?Morales is a tough opponent and that?s why when we fight, it is so good because we fight hard and train hard. I know people will be happy for our fight.?
