LAS VEGAS ? While boxing fans are dying to get tickets for Saturday?s fight at the Thomas and Mack Center, there is also an ongoing struggle among Manny Pacquiao?s supporters itching to get up the ring so they can be seen by viewers not only in the Philippines but by millions and millions from around the world.
This was revealed by Canadian boxing agent Mike Koncz, who told Filipino scribes on Tuesday that the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) only allows a maximum of five members of a fighter?s corner on top of the ring during the prefight introduction.
As of the latest count, those whose names have been submitted to the NSAC, excluding Pacquiao, are that of trainer Freddie Roach, training assistants Justin Fortune and Buboy Fernandez, cutman Joe Chavez and manager Shelly Finkel.
The flagbearer, Filipino gun enthusiast Cris Aquino and Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who will carry Pacquiao?s World Boxing Council International super-featherweight belt from the dressing room to the ring, would also be allowed to go up.
