“I can’t hang out with Floyd no more, I’m tired of running from Manny Pacquiao” – Rapper / boxing promoter Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
Former “BFFs” Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and rapper-turned-boxing promoter Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, have decided to duke out their differences the way most attention-seeking celebrities go about their manly disputes these days. Twitter. View slideshow: Floyd and 50 during ‘sweeter’ times.
The long-rumored spat between the two former best friends finally came to a head the other day when Jackson aired out his sentiments on his failed boxing partnership with Mayweather in a series of tweets on his Twitter page.
Jackson tweeted:

? “I move the fighters to SMSpromotion cause the other half of the money team .Didnt put up there $MONEY$.”
“If anyone wants a money team jacket I’m selling mine for a dollar. The nap back hat comes with it. That’s a fare price.”

A day after, Mayweather came firing back at Jackson calling him a “male groupie” and insinuating that the rapper was riding his boxing fame, because he had fallen off the music industry, while posting pictures with insulting captions aimed at his former friend.
Mayweather tweeted:

Jackson then retaliated by using one of his newly-signed fighters, Cuban featherweight Yuriorkis Gamboa, to challenge Mayweather in a boxing match, and took shots at the undefeated boxer for ducking Manny Pacquiao.

It’s comical to watch these two outspoken trash-talkers after years of spreading negativity and hate toward their adversaries in recent years. Mayweather and Jackson walked hand-in-hand to the ring together, went on multi-city club tours, and went on HBO’s 24/7 dissing anyone from Oscar Dela Hoya to Pacquiao under their “Money Team” moniker, only to bite each other’s heads off.
Mayweather is branding 50 Cent as a “male groupie”, while he himself is desperately attaching himself to the rap game by clinging on to popular figures in the industry. Though Mayweather’s claims that Jackson has fallen off as a rapper is true, his latest brags about jumping in bed with the YMCMB crew (Young Money Cash Money Business) which features a stable of top rappers like Lil’ Wayne and Drake, portrays him exactly the way he presents his BFF-turned-worst enemy to be (a groupie).
Last time I checked, Mayweather sucked in his attempt as a rapper (click here), and his record company hasn’t produced a significant act since it was founded. Jackson pointed out previous interviews that Mayweather, who other than his rap sheet, is known for being a boxer, has not shown interest in facing Pacquiao in the boxing ring.
Word to the wise: Stick to what you do best; Mayweather should give boxing fans what they’ve been asking for by fighting Pacquiao, and Jackson should just stick to rap and producing hits. With all due respect, the world of hip-hop will stand to lose NOTHING without Mayweather, though I must admit, Jackson’s involvement with boxing is yet to be determined.
