Donaire Aching For Arce Fight

While Nonito Donaire can?t wait to get his hands on Jorge Arce, the Fil-Am pound-for-pound puncher said he has to know soon ? make that very soon ? whether the proposed Dec. 15 match can be made or not.

?If I can?t get answer in a week or two, I will just rest,? Donaire said during yesterday?s PSA Forum.

Reports that Top Rank big boss Bob Arum is close to getting a deal done for Donaire to face Mexican Jorge Arce in Mexico City surfaced over the weekend.

Donaire said he hasn?t talked to Arum regarding the mouth-watering Arce showdown but would love to do the fight.

?For now, nothing is sure because I haven?t seen the contract. I haven?t talked to him. It?s been talked about and if it does happen, I?ll be excited.?

Donaire said he needs some time to rest his left hand after injuring it two weeks ago when he stopped Toshiaki Nishioka of Japan in Los Angeles.

?My doctor said to me, ?Give it a full month and don?t hit anything, you?ll be ready.??

There have been several times in the past when efforts were made to pair Donaire and Arce together.

But owing to financial matters, the juicy matchup could not be made.

And Donaire said it?s not his fault.

?I have a set price,? said Donaire as he put the accusing finger on Arce.

?He is setting himself too high. He?s asking for too much money. It?s definitely the money,? pointed out Donaire, and not because the rugged Mexican is scared to face him.

Still, Donaire believes Arce has no other choice but to meet him.

?I am the biggest fight and the biggest money in this division. If it wants it to be lucrative, it has to be Nonito Donaire (he has to fight).?

While many ringsiders are of the opinion that Arce is going to be peanuts, Donaire said Arce is someone not to take for granted.

?He is very unpredictable. He always has a lot of fight in himself.?
