MANILA, Philippines ? Manny Pacquiao’s training assistant Buboy Fernandez has assured Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum that the eight division boxing champ and Sarangani representative remains focused in preparing for his fourth rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez in December.
This, it turned out, was in response to Arum?s statement as told to boxing analyst and sports columnist Ronnie Nathanielsz in his post on Oct. 15 titled, ?What is Pacquiao thinking?? that Pacquiao should ?decide whether he is a boxer or he’s a politician.”
?I would like for the next two months for him to be a boxer and then the politics will take care of itself when he finishes the fight with Marquez. But that’s up to him,? Arum was quoted to have said.
In an interview aired on ?UKG,? Wednesday, Fernandez said, ?Wala daw ginagawa, puro daw pulitika ang nasa isip niya. Kung alam lang sana nila kung gaano kahirap ?yung ginagawa namin araw-araw, sa umaga?
?Pero ?wag naman nilang sobrahan kasi? Kung kaya na nila sumalo ng suntok dito, pumunta sila sa gym para malaman nila kung anong ginagawa araw-araw.?
Fernandez also said in a separate interview aired on ?TV Patrol? Tuesday evening, ?Bawal ang istorbo [dito], saka napapakiusapan natin ?yung mga kaibigan natin. So maganda ?yung ano natin, ang ipinapakitang training.?
According to the ?UKG? report, Pacquiao completes 18 mitt sessions and trains at least four hours each day at the Pacman?s Gym in Gen San. Now on his third week of rigorous training, Team Pacquiao reportedly also discusses strategies and possible ?dirty tactics? that Marquez may employ.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao?s coach Freddie Roach isn?t worried about the postponement.
Pacquiao and his entourage are set to leave for the US on Oct. 27.
