Sometimes its funny to see such wasteful advertising. Take for example Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 8 Chevrolet that will carry a special paint scheme this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway as he attempts to gain ground in the Chase For The Nextel Cup. The rear deck of his race car will sport a decal promoting the Nov. 18 HBO Pay-Per-View super featherweight boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales.
Maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad idea, except Nascar is a Redneck sport, and chance are that the fans of Nascar won’t be interested in watching a Mexican and a Filipino get it on in the ring. And let me guess, do we expect to see a bunch of Nascar fans sitting ringside waving the Confederate flag? I’d like to know what idiot thought it would be a good idea to advertise on a Nascar the sport of Boxing.
To me its a complete waste of money. I also find it funny that someone would rather give money to Nascar than to the Boxing world. Countless boxing websites that could use the money from the advertising, but some genius figures the money would be better wasted on Nascar. Never mind helping boxing websites that actually put fans in the seats and help create PPV revenue.
The problem with Boxing websites today is they give too much for free. People in the industry need to get the priorities right. Stop advertising on Nascars and start taking care of the real backbone of boxing. Without boxing websites, Boxing wouldn’t be going anywhere these days….especially not on the back of Nascars.
Do you think Nascar would waste adverting revenue on Boxing? Not likely. You got to wonder what kind of idiot would want to advertise boxing on a Nascar? My message to that idiot would be…. advertise on Boxing websites, not Nascars. Or at least saturate your ads on Boxing websites before you do something stupid like advertise on Nascar.
