True to his word, 8-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is taking his training camp seriously for his December 8th showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez. Pacquiao has already started preliminary workouts this week by running 10 laps at the General Santos oval in his hometown of General Santos City.
Pacquiao?s chief-of-staff, Haplas Fernandez, said that after Pacquiao?s rounds at the track, the Filipino boxing icon invited the training team to play volleyball. Fernandez said that this is the first time they did this in their training camp. Although the volleyball game was played for fun, Fernandez believes that Pacquiao is more focused for his fourth clash with Marquez and that his desire to start camp early is a sign that he is hungry to prove that his best days as a boxer are still ahead of him.
?Nagdalawang set lang. Nagtawanan lang kami nila Buboy. Papawis din [?] ang init nga eh. (We only played two sets. We were all just laughing. We managed to work up a sweat [?] it was hot),? Fernandez told PTV Sports? Snow Badua.

Fernandez also mentioned that in MP?s 4.8 km run it was clear that Manny has not lost his running legs and was still killing the track. Pacquiao will continue to run and do light training before they start the more serious leg of camp at the Wild Card Gym on Oct. 16. Before they started training, Pacquiao was able to shoot a few episodes of his own television show, which proves that he is more determined in managing his time. Fernandez said that Manny?s priority now is his boxing career.
?Ibang iba ang focus nya ngayon. Sa boxing ang focus nya. Priority nya ngayon ang laban. Gusto nya patunayan sa mga tao na ibabalik nya yung Manny Pacquiao na 25 years old (His focus is really different this time around. His focus is in boxing. His main priority is the fight, and he wants to prove to the people that he can bring back the 25-year-old Many Pacquiao), ? Fernandez added.
