FILIPINO ring heartthrob Manny ?The Destroyer? Pacquiao did an unforgiving demolition job during his first sparring session so brutal that it may cause a shortage of sparring partners for the uncrowned people?s featherweight king at American Freddie Roach?s Wild Card gym in Hollywood.
The first casualty of Pacquiao?s fierce and relentless heavy bombings was the previously unbeaten bantamweight contender Karen Harutyunyan of Armenia, a regular sparringmate who should have already been familiar with the warlike style of the General Santos City-native fighter.
Harutyunyan paid dearly for imprudently scrambling it out with Pacquiao as he suffered a bruised left rib and had to undergo two x-ray check-ups for broken bones. He went home with a brace and an ice pack on his chest.
