Do you know what must be really tough? I would say that inventing a new dance must be a tough thing to do because you would risk the ridicule of the public. Should you come up with a famous and popular dance like the Lambada, which is also known as “the Forbidden Dance,” then you are okay, but should you come up with something like, let’s say, snapping your fingers, gyrating your lower region, and then punching yourself in the grapes to the hit Journey tune: “Any Way You Want It,” you would be seen as a fool. You risked embarrassment by trying to create a new dance craze and are now a laughing stock. So, props to all that have created and have tried to create new dances.
The best example of a failed dance was “Walking the Dinosaur,” by the one hit wonder: “Was (Not Was).” Now with a name like that, you would figure that they would have made it to the big time, but they were not so lucky and neither was their dance. “Open the door. Get on the Floor. Everybody walk the dinosaur,” were the lyrics to this gem. How can you walk a dinosaur if you are on the floor, and how can you fit them through the door in the first place? My absurdly obese Aunt Polly has a hard enough time fitting through doorways and she is, at most, only half the size of a T Rex. A song that doesn’t make any sense will not make sense as a dance sensation. In other words, @#%#%# Was (Not Was)!
Do you remember that lame dance craze: “The Macarena?” It is still common place at weddings and in the homes. I can’t get my jollies from two old men telling me to grab my hips and wiggle. That is not a song, people. That is forced loving, if you ask me. What about that “Achy Breaky” crap? Line Dancing was HUGE in New England for a while…they even had bars dedicated to that ridiculous dance. I know that styles and music don’t always travel well, and no disrespect to Billy Ray Cyrus, but I think that his music is horrible and the dancing has got to go. How dare he bring that sort of element to my area, New England. How dare he corrupt my people with his new fangled shaky-shake! How dare he “mullet it up” as he has often said (or may not have ever said). I’m a man from New England and I hate achy breaky. I hope that your heart will understand.
Now, how about a movie review? The movie “Stevie” is a documentary that came out in 2002 and concerns the life of “Stevie Fielding,” a thirty something year old adult that has encountered nothing but trouble in his life and has been a menace to society. His life begins with him bouncing around from foster home to foster home and actually falling victim to molestation. When he was a young adult, he meets Steve James, the director of this film and what turned out to be his big brother during that time. Years passed and Steve James returns to see what has happened to the man that, though no relation, he considered a little brother.
Stevie Fields turns out to be a complete waste of a life, that is racist and part of the white supremacist movement and unemployed. He is on disability because he is a moron and wastes that money on marijuana. Now, the worst part. He was entrusted to watch a VERY young relative…like an 8 or 9 year old girl, and does unthinkable things to her, which places him on trial and nearly kicks him out of the white supremacist movement. Isn’t that a shame? Anyway, this documentary covers the life and times of this idiot and focuses in on the closing moments of the trial and the strange life of this man. I highly recommend this movie. It is fantastic. It is the 3rd best documentary that I have ever seen, next to Capturing the Friedmans and Paradise Lost. By the way: Free the West Memphis Three!!!

Personally, it was a welcome change from some of the comments, charges, and so on that I had been reading about the man elsewhere. Your neutral, factual article reads more like a glowing tribute than the fair treatment it actually was, when compared to some of the vicious, and frankly badly written articles i’ve been reading on the subject lately. Again, Thank You. I learned a couple of things, and enjoyed your insights.

You are welcome my friend. I have noticed that there is very little sympathy for the Berbick family and a lot of writers are using this death as a platform for their own careers. There are ways to handle things and some people would rather go the sensationalistic Geraldo Rivera way, just to rile people up and get attention.
Do you want to know why the Internet writers get a bad name? It is because most of them can’t even write their own name. There is a difference between boxing fans that write, and writers that are boxing fans. I am a writer and I take pride in it and when you cover something as far as a death goes, you try to stray away from the means, especially when it is a brutal death, as it turned out to be in this case.
There is something missing from these “writers” nowadays. They say something and when challenged, they fold like a blanket. You have to stick by your work and if you believe something, write it. I have no issue with somebody saying: “Trevor Berbick was scum in my eyes and when you look at his history, it proves it.” That is their opinion, but what bugs me more than somebody looking for effect, which is probably the case in most of these articles, is the fact that the backbone is now gone from these writers. Say what you mean and mean what you say and have the balls to stand by it, regardless. This exact reason was why I had left another website. I had said something about the police being crooked at times and they are, and my boss was then contacted by a former cop that took offense. In the end, my article was dropped off of the site without notice. What a @#$@#$ my former boss was. Stand by the work…sometimes you are going to say something that others do not like. It is part of the game. Believe it or not, I have said some things that people haven’t liked…especially those Ricky Hatton fans, but I refuse to recant! I’m a Hatton fan too people, but I guess that I’m not at the level that I should be at.
So, thanks again for the comments, and @$@#$@ the other “writers.” There, that felt pretty good to say that.

Now, my favorite boxer….hmm. I would say Mike Tyson. He got me into the sport, and his bouts are among the ones that I watch over and over again. He was amazing. My favorite active fighter…active in the sense that he is still able to fight and not just partake in exhibitions are probably, and I have to name more than one: Emanuel Augustus, Manny Pacquiao, Diego Corrales, Lamon Brewster, DaVarryl Williamson (I’m the only one that finds his fights entertaining it seems), and Zab Judah.

Glad to see he backed up his point of Pacman being the best ever with some real sound arguments. The fact that someone is your favorite fighter doesn’t make them the best. Although his relentless love and endless devotion for Pacman does make me feel all a twitter. All that needs to be said is 91 wins without a loss. Chavez was the best. Unfortunately Rickwithak maybe confusing him Chavez junior who has yet to fight a guy with a winning record to my knowledge. Either way I enjoy watching Pacman, he’s just not the best….at all. And as far as my grapes go, I have never had a complaint about them being sour. Plus, I don’t even know this Rickwithak so they must be making that up. Go Shannon Briggs and go Geno!

I have said it before and I will say it again, Julio Cesar Chavez would beat Manny Pacquiao, in my opinion. This is boxing and anything can happen, but Chavez was nearly unbeatable in his prime and you couldn’t stand in front of him. You had to outsmart him and out-box him and Manny Pacquiao is not a boxer. He is a knockout puncher that would perhaps stun Chavez, but he has been stunned before and would begin to push Manny backward and that’s when the fight would be over. You needed to be a Pernell Whitaker to beat Chavez…somebody to frustrate him and outpoint him. Anyone that goes in there with the intention to knock him out is going to be stopped.
No complaints about sour grapes you say? Hmm…since this is a family site, I will not throw in my joke about a dog. I want to, but even if I did, my boss, CEO/Publisher, “Bad” Brad Berkwitt, of RSR would probably yank it right out. He would yank it out in other words. So, use your imagination and take care.

I have no idea about Fight Night Round 3, but I do play it. I have it for Xbox and it’s a lot of fun. I haven’t beaten it yet. My guy has made it to like 70 fights and then I retired him because he was losing too many bouts and the game said that I was only 92% complete. I’m not risking the health of my fighter to finish the game. That Flash KO punch…I’ve done it once, but haven’t done it since. Sounds like my marriage.
I liked the Benchwarmers very much. It was goofy and stupid and made me laugh. I love the purple nurple parts of the film. It was WAY better than anticipated and I am thinking about buying it, along with “The Ringer” and “Scary Movie 4.”

the other thing i wrote about buddy mcgirth as a trainer after doing a lousy job with brewster sis you see the job he did with adamek against briggs not once did he give advice to adamek how to stay away from the briggs righ, but as usual his great advice is stay away from the ropes, go to the body, that’s why brewster lost and he deserve too after getting rid of his other trainer and how the adamek fight was very close.

You said a mouthful. Tony from the UK…a great guy, I’m sure, but he has emailed me over and over again, repeatedly stating that I do not like Lennox Lewis. From the Razor Ruddock bout, I have been on the bandwagon, but apparently, I do not support him enough. He probably wants me fly to England, perhaps dressed as a French Maid, and wait on Lewis hand and foot and then create a church dedicated to Lennox and then rename my son “Lennox,” and then create a new dance called “The Lennox.” Well, I won’t do it. I like Lewis and if he can’t see that, so be it!
I have never called Shannon Briggs “great,” but I do consider him a good contender and has a shot tonight against Sergei Liakhovich. I don’t want to have him win because “he’s from the USA and I’m from the USA and everything is great in the USA.” No, that is not the way that I think at all, but stylistically, Briggs would be a great bout for Wladimir Klitschko, Nikolay Valuev, and Oleg Maskaev. Big punch=Big excitement. I do honestly think that Briggs is a nice guy though, as most boxers that I have come across. There have been some jerk offs that wanted money for an interview and they’re not going to get it from me!
Buddy McGirt was a fantastic fighter and a good trainer, but you can’t turn a Lamon Brewster into a Buddy McGirt. It is not going to happen. Styles have to match. Remember when Floyd Patterson trained Razor Ruddock? What a mismatch that was! “Jab to the body, Razor!” Floyd shouted from the outside of the ring as he fought Lennox Lewis. The jabbing to the body was the reason that Razor got caught. “Sorry about the jabbing to the body, Razor,” was the last thing that he heard. So, McGirt is a good trainer, but he has to be matched correctly.

You’re a little harsh on Lennox Lewis. Why is it you guys hate him so much? Is it because he beat Riddick Bowe at the Olympics? Is it because he beat all your top guys? Is it because he was a gentleman who chose to bring dignity and respect to a sport so filled with arrogant big mouths? Is it because he’s British? Is it because he caused a change in attitude for a while to British Heavyweights? I mean your top boys used to love fighting ours, hell they saw it as easy money UNTIL Lewis came along. Bowe and Tyson chose to give up belts rather than face him. Moorer avoided him, Foreman avoided him and Holyfield even tried to duck out of fighting him.
If Lewis was given an oppurtuninty at the Undisputed title earler, he would have had a longer reign. He came back from a 2 round TKO defeat to Oliver McCall. No heavyweight champion in history has ever came back from a 2 round defeat as well as he did. He had a rubbish trainer in Correa who taught him nothing but came back a 100% better fighter under Steward. Sure he got big headed and lost to Rahman but how he put right that wrong. You say he has no chin?! Lets face it the McCall stoppage was debateable. The Rahman KO was clear cut, how many other fighters in history would have gotten up? Maybe Ali? Maybe Holmes? I’m not too sure about anybody else getting up.
The problem wasn’t his chin, the problem was he shouldn’t have got caught by the punch. He took digs in his career from Mason, Tucker, Bruno, Mercer, Briggs, Holyfield, Klitschko. He didn’t go down against any of these men. They could all bang. 2 knockdowns in your career hardly make you chinny! Fair enough he didn’t always fight in a thrlling manner but I have seen you forgive American fighters with an even more cautious style. Whichever way you look at it, the facts are these:
* He’s an Olympic Gold Medallist * He’s 3 Time Heavyweight Champion Of The World * He Was Willing To Fight Anyone, Anytime * He beat everyman he ever faced * He retired as reigning heavyweight champion of the world * He beat 2 legends in Holyfield & Tyson * He was a huge KO puncher with either hand * He was a master boxer * He was incredibly athletic, hell his physique was like a basketball players * He moved well and could punch quick for such a big man
Judge Lewis as a fighter and nothing else. I’m British but most of my fight heroes are US fighters. I have DVD collections that are filled with US fighters and I couldn’t care less. If a fighter is great he’s great. Tyson is repulsive to me in so many ways but was he great? You’re damn right he was! So for whatver reason you give Lewis a bad rap for….STOP NOW. He had to put up with snide remarks from you guys his whole career, let him enjoy his retirement with the praise he deserves. By the way, you can critisise his broadcasting skills they aint great! I dislike Lennox Lewis because:
-He beat my guys…let’s say Tyson & Holyfield…and don’t forget Frans Botha. Oh, how I love that White Buffalo! -He beat Riddick Bowe at the Olympics. I have never gotten over that. Why can’t I just let it go? -I cannot stand the fact that he’s a gentleman. If he’s not sporting bling-bling and swearing constantly, he will not have my respect. -I especially hate the fact that he has changed the image of British heavyweights. -RSR’s two British writers, Richard Hulse and Lee Purchase always feel my wrath. How dare they be British!

If you remember me, you’ll probably remember I ‘m a huge Morales fan. I loved the article you wrote about the upcoming rubber match, it was nice to read a report that isnt treating the fight as a formality.
I think ‘El Terrible’ has a real chance in this one. The reason I love Morales is that here is a boxer who is fast, can dance but when the gauntlet is thrown down he will stand and trade when common sense dictates otherwise. I love the foolhardy bravery of the man.
In the first fight I think he had seen the Pacmans demolition of Barrera and boxed smart. He outboxed and out thought the Filipino star.
But after this fight I think he was stung by the way Pacmans corner were using the glove issue as, maybe not an excuse, but a reason in the defeat. We heard Morales say that Pacmans punches werent as hard as he thought they would be.
And in Fight II I believe Morales wanted to prove he was as tough as Pacman and could take the punches, regardless of the gloves. As we all saw, he was wrong. Sometimes you have to accept there are bigger punchers out there, that you can be hurt.
So to the finale. It is my hope that we see the Morales that showed up in the first fight. Land the quick blows then move. Protect the body and stay away from that hammer of a left of Pacmans. If he does he could have a serious chance, infact I’ll be foolhardy here and I say I think he will win with this strategy.
But after the beating he took the last time, after being put down for the first time in his career – will Morales be his own worst enemy and stand toe to toe with Pacquaio??
What do you think big man? Incidentally, what gloves are being used this time?

There are lots of boxing fans{and even you}who will disagree with me. But Erik Morales is in the dying gasp of his career. He knows deep in his heart that Manny Pacquiao has become way beyond his ability and power to vanquish. Honestly, the hype about this fight is all about big bucks, not only for Morales but for Bob Arum as well.
Have you noticed that Manny hasn’t said anything about this coming fight? If you know the Filipino psyche, it means that Manny Pacquiao is not taking this fight lightly. To him this is a do or die fight that will be recorded in boxing history. And he will win this fight decisively. I will venture to tell you what’s on his mind with this fight. History and pride has something to do with it.
Manny will be thinking like the native chieftain Lapu-Lapu who slew the spanish explorer and conquistador, Magellan in the shores of Cebu in a fiery hand to hand combat. Manny will also be thinking the courage of our national hero, Jose Rizal, when he faced the spanish firing squad.A lot of Filipinos nowadays are waking up in their deep slumber as a race, all because of Manny Pacquiao. In one way, it’s a shame that an uneducated boxer, will show the way to our ultimate unification as a people. I’m sorry that I got carried away, but I’m proof that Filipinos are very passionate people. More power to you!!!!

It’s probably better to follow an uneducated boxer than an uneducated politician. Mike Tyson for President! Anyway, I think that Erik Morales, could, although unlikely, win a decision. No way does he knock out Manny Pacquiao. Morales has never been a big puncher and at this stage of his career, he’s going to be less of a KO threat. His winning strategy has to be to keep Pacman at a distance and try to win a decision.
