So much for getting a decision anytime soon. Manny Pacquiao has a decision to make, and to be honest, it’s not a hard one, so I don’t know why he’s kicking the can down the road. Miguel Cotto pulled himself out of the sweepstakes by accepting Austin Trout for a December fight. So this allegedly leaves Juan Manuel Marquez, and Timothy Bradley. Or does it?
Pacquiao has not made a decision yet because he knows by accepting Bradley, he gets much less money. With that said, the odds of beating Bradley are good. Most people with a brain and average eyes saw Pacquiao beat Bradley soundly in the first fight.
The X factor in all of this is Floyd Mayweather Jr. If you think otherwise, you are a fool. Pacquiao has not decided between Bradley and Marquez simply because he wants the big money fight Vs. Floyd.
If he picks Bradley, he gets paid much less (mid 18 million range) than if he picks Marquez. The good part about picking Bradley is that it’s an easier fight for him. A loss is not probable, and by beating him it secures a shot at Mayweather for up to 40 million. But, let’s say that Pacquiao loses to Bradley. This would squash any potential Mayweather fight. Pacquiao’s stock would drop like a rock in a swimming pool.

If he picks Marquez, he gets paid much more money (mid 20 million range) than he would if he picked Bradley. The good part about picking Marquez is the increase in purse money. The risky part is clear. He’s had difficulty with Marquez in all of his previous fights with him. A loss to Marquez also squashes any potential Mayweather fight.
So, why did I say this decision should be an easy one? Because, if Pacquiao was smart, he would pass on both Marquez and Bradley. If he is smart, he would demand that Arum make the fight with Mayweather NOW. Why risk losing to either Bradley or Marquez? He needs to strike now while the fire is somewhat hot.

Pacquiao was guaranteed 40 million bucks by Floyd Mayweather. Pacquiao would be a fool to pass on this a second time. If he was smart, he would take a Mayweather fight for around 40 million and tell Arum to put a rematch clause into the contract. Last time I checked my math, 40 million plus 40 million is 80 million dollars.
Pacquiao should pass on both Marquez and Bradley, take a Mayweather fight for 40 million with a rematch clause. He should fight the rematch, and 80 million dollars later, ride off into the sunset.
