Manny Pacquiao’s advisor Michael Koncz issued a statement earlier this week that his boss had requested Top Rank Promotions to reschedule his fight from Nov. 10th to Dec. 1st.
“Manny has to be in the Philippines for the filing of his candidacy in October, and I don’t want to interrupt his training, nor does Manny,” Koncz was quoted in an ESPn article by boxing writer Dan Rafael. View slideshow: Manny Pacquiao during the 2010 Elections in the Philippines
“If he fights on Nov. 10, it would interrupt his training because he would have to go back to the Philippines. You lose two days going there, and it’s a long trip in the middle of camp. We don’t want to have any excuses when he fights. I believe if he fought on Nov. 10 but made a trip at that time to the Philippines, we’d lose a week of physical training, and I don’t want there to be any excuses. So we can’t go on Nov. 10, and we have told that to our promoter (Top Rank),” added Koncz.

Those statements, however, have been countered by the Philippines’ Commission on Elections spokesperson James Jimenez. Jimenez said that the Saranggani Province congressman can send his documents through an authorized representative during the filing period, which Pacquiao has a lot of.
?It is possible since he can just send his authorized representative to file his COC,? said Jimenez in an interview by Kristine Alave of The Philippine Inquirer citing a provision in election laws that allows Pacquiao to focus on his training in the US without worrying about filing his candidacy in the Philippines.
That said, there is certainly more to the rescheduling of Pacquiao’s fight, than what Koncz is letting the public believe. An opponent is still yet to be named.
