Despite fans’ waning interest and optimism, 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao insists that a showdown with unbeaten boxing phenom Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is still a like possibility. “It’s possible that fight will happen. Yes, it’s possible,” Pacquiao told our good friend Snow Badua of PTV Sports in an exclusive interview. “It’s possible as long as he is in boxing, and I am in boxing as well.”
When asked why he thinks the fight is still possible after years of failed negotiations, Pacquiao responded saying that his camp and Mayweather’s camp are still going to negotiate. “They will talk,” he said, and added, “yes I want him, so the fight can finally happen.”
Two weeks ago while at rapper and friend 50 Cent’s movie premier, and in his first interview after being released from jail, Mayweather surprisingly praised Pacquiao, as opposed to hurling his usual aspersions at the Filipino boxing icon. “I think Pacquiao is an unbelievable fighter, and hopefully we can make the fight happen in the future,” Mayweather said in a red carpet interview posted by PopStopTV.com.
