Nonito Donaire Jr. will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation super bantamweight crowns against Japanese boxer Toshiaki Nishioka on October 13 at the Home Depot Center in California.
Donaire (29-1-0 win-loss-draw with 18 knockouts) posted on his Facebook wall that he is currently training hard to defend his titles and to capture the vacant World Boxing Council super bantamweight diamond belt.
Nishioka (39-4-3 with 24 KOs) was a former WBC bantamweight and super bantamweight champion.
Donaire, 29, recently defeated South African Jeffrey Mathebula via unanimous decision. Bob Arum?s Top Rank Promotion is promoting the Donaire vs. Nishioka bout. The fight card also includes the title match between World Boxing Association lightweight champion Brandon Rios (30-0-1, 23 KOs) and Mike Alvarado (33-0, 23 KOs).
