CATHEDRAL CITY ? If Manny Pacquiao elects to exercise his rematch clause and avenge his loss to WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, the trainer for the Cathedral City boxer said Bradley will be ready to go.
Pacquiao is meeting with promoter Bob Arum in his home in the Philippines to decide between three opponents for his Nov. 10 date at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Bradley, who is recovering from two foot injuries, will be healthy by then, according to trainer Joel Diaz. The most serious injury was his left foot that had strained ligaments, which forced Bradley to be in a wheelchair for a week and wear a boot. ?He’ll be good,? Diaz said. ?I asked him that same question. He said ?Nah, I’m good. I’m already walking and doing things. I’ll start exercising it, strength and conditioning it, so we’ll be good.’?
Bradley said he was not doing interviews until after an announcement is made.
Diaz said if Bradley does get the rematch, they would not begin working in the gym until September, giving them an eight-week training camp. But Diaz also points out that Bradley would probably begin his conditioning immediately.
?If you say Tim fights in November, he will start tomorrow,? Diaz said of Bradley’s renowned work ethic. ?When it comes to the gym, we usually start eight weeks out. More than eight weeks, he’ll be burnt out and over-trained.?
According to an ESPN.com report Pacquiao is considering Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel Cotto.
Arum told ESPN.com that he wants to make the decision soon and hold a national media tour around Labor Day weekend.
Bradley upset Pacquiao by split decision on June 9 that created a whirlwind of controversy.
It was the first loss by the popular Pacquiao and ended his 15-fight winning streak which began in 2005.
However, many boxing journalists and fans felt Pacquiao won the fight decisively. Arum fueled the fire, saying he had Pacquiao winning 10 of the 12 rounds and that Pacquiao unquestionably won.
