For eight weeks, 3-time women’s boxing world champion Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton (11-3-1, 1 KO), trained and work hard in preparing for her original opponent, orthodox boxer Magali Rodriquez (7-4-1, 4 KOs), from Monterrey, Mexico. As her reward, Julaton will now now face southpaw challenger Abigail ?Pinguita? Ramos (3-3-0, 2 KOs) in a 10-round bout in Kanasin, Yucatan, Mexico tonight after Rodriguez went MIA. Throw the game plan out the door, instead Julaton is ready to wage war.
Both fighters cleared the contracted 126 lbs. weight limit during Thursday’s official weigh-ins in Kanasin, Yucatan, with Ramos tipping in at 123.5 lbs., and Julaton at 125.5.
The last time Julaton encountered a southpaw was in 2010 when she lost to Lisa Brown in Canada, due in large to a cut she sustained early caused by a clash of heads. It will be interesting to see if Julaton has learned her lesson against a game opponent.

“Even though Ana is taller, I am tough and I am coming to bring my best,” Ramos stated during the press conference in Mexico. Julaton, who is being called the “Queen of Merida” by several of the news media, and has become a fan favorite in Yucatan, answered by assuring her fans that she will engage Ramos like any of her previous opponents, and as if she were fighting for a title. Julaton’s promoter Allan Tremblay said that at this point in her career, she is so fight sharp that she would be ready for anyone at her division and will be ready to face off against top names like Jackie Nava, Lisa Brown, and Yesica Marcos, and is confident in making a Philippine fight happen for her soon after Friday’s bout in the event she hurdles Ramos.
Tremblay is said to be working on a big event with Governor Amado Espino to bring a major event to Pangasinan, Julaton’s province in the Philippines, soon after this weekend for Julaton to fight for her fourth World Championship Belt in front of her kababayans.
