SAN JOSE, Calif. ? Shawn Porter defeated veteran Alfonso Gomez by a unanimous decision in a 10-round welterweight fight on the Robert Guerrero-Selcuk Aydin card Saturday night.
Porter (20-0, 14 knockouts) met with considerable resistance from Gomez (23-6-2, 12 KOs) but clearly landed more punches and did more damage, wearing the Mexican down as the fight progressed.
Porter, from Cleveland, Ohio, was cut below the left eye in the ninth round but was able to fight through it.
