Well here we are at it again and it looks like my RSR mailbag fans didn’t desert me after all. I almost lost Maria, but luckily she renewed her membership to the Jose Rivera Fan Club. I am glad and happy to see that RSRTV is a hit with you guys and that you guys can appreciate a good laugh. I do have to say that Geno is very creative in his scripts, and the guys are very good and fun to work with. I have a few more questions to work with this week so let me get started.
IS THE GIANT FOR REAL

What do you think of this Giant Nik Valuev? I like the awe and shock but he cannot really fight in my opinion and gets beat when he faces a big heavyweight like Lamon Brewster.

I am not totally impressed with the big guy just yet, but I was impressed with his stamina and energy through eleven rounds. He must be taking the USANA supplements. Yes, he may get beat when he faces a bigger heavyweight, but I am not sure Lamon Brewster is the big heavyweight that will do it. Lamon Brewster? Come on! The guy is probably the shortest heavyweight out there right now. No doubt if Lamon was bigger, he’d have a better chance. He has the punch and skills to beat Valuev.

On question one I really cannot answer because Joe is not in my weight class. I personally think I can beat anybody in my weight class, who really campaigns at 154. As far as Pacman goes against Casamayor, I think Pacman can beat him with his effective pressure, but Joel will not stand there long enough to let himself get knocked down, but it is possible.

Loved the boxing show but that contest with you and Geno was rigged. No way his pleasantly plump person is more of the ladies man than you. Now I do think that sexy Cedric Howard gives you a run for your money. I can’t wait till next month’s show and glad to see a new character being brought in with TNT Brown. He sure is a big one man and very funny.

Recently your fellow writer Otis Griffin wrote an article on how Sugar Ray Leonard would do today in his prime? How do you think he would do?
Also, here is a tough question for you. How good is Otis Griffin and where do you see him in two years in his boxing career?

I am not saying this because Otis writes for RSR, but I agree with his article. I myself would have loved to see a fight with Leonard and the likes of Trinidad, De La Hoya and Mayweather at 147 lbs though. Talk about great and exciting fights. I would have to give the edge to Leonard in all of these fights because when it was time to step it up, he knew how, and that is what made him a superstar. Obviously if Leonard would dare fight Trinidad like he fought Duran the first time, then goodnight Leonard, but I think he would be too smart for that. With Mayweather and De La Hoya it would be a battle of speed, but in the end I think Leonard was quicker than them both. At the 154lb limit, I will still give Leonard the edge against these guys and Winky Wright. Winky is very good defensive fighter, but so was Leonard. None of the above mentioned guys have ever been in a 15 round war that to me is what separates the men from the boys. I do not know why they took those three extra rounds out.
I think Otis Griffin is a good solid fighter and if he stays busy and keeps working hard I can see him fighting for a world title, probably before two years. How he does in his world title fight is strictly up to him, but if he believes in himself that is all he needs.

Thanks for the support. I do not think it is going to be no big secret that I am going to have to apply pressure, pressure, and more pressure on Travis Simms. Simms is the type of fighter that is more concerned with looking good than fighting. If he gets brave and wants to bang on the inside with me, I will make him pay. Look for Simms to run for his life, and for me to beat him by a unanimous decision. Simms has never been in the ring with a fighter like me; therefore no matter how hard he trains or prepares he will still not know what to do with me. That hit and run shit is only going to take him so far.

It seemed ODLH just secured his own purse with a seven fight contract with MP. With five top of the line featherweight fighters signed to him. he made the heavyweight division an uninteresting place. He could just shuffle those five exciting fighters like he’s playing a video game. And that’s equivalent to winning the lotto prize with every fight. Anyways. my question is. with those five. who do you think has the best chance of beating MP? I personally pick Joan Guzman. I love the way he fights! With MP beating every Mexican champ (no offense to my Mexican brothers! peace out!) maybe Joan could spell the difference. Whaddayathink?

Well, I think you are on to something, but what I would like to see if Guzman will be able to stay away from Manny’s onslaught for twelve rounds. Joan is a good and slick fighter, but he has not been in the ring with a fighter of Manny’s stature. Don’t get me wrong Jorge Barrios was a tough and good fighter, but he made Guzman look good. I am looking forward to see Manny in there with fresh meat like Guzman, but I think right now Manny is too much for him.

Yes, it can be an advantage for Manny. I know from experience having to lose twenty-five pounds to make the 147 lb limit in the Luis Collazo fight when I lost my WBA welterweight title by split decision, fatigue set in and it wasn’t that I didn’t train hard. It was because the weight loss took a toll on my body, and also because I was not on the USANA supplements yet.

Thank you. As you can see, there is a lot of Manny Pacquiao fans on this site because they voted him number 1 by a unanimous margin. I, myself, think that Mayweather is the #1 P4P right now, but yes I feel Manny is a close second and if Mayweather doesn’t step up and keeps fighting sub par fighters while Manny keeps cleaning out his division, then you could possibly see a switch in the P4P rankings soon.

Thank you, but I am a little confused on your outcome of the fight. You said Manny will be floored in the third round and I do not agree, but that is your opinion so that is fine. Then you say the battle will end in the 9th round with the winner being based on the scorecards from the 1st round. So how does the fight end in the 9th round without there being an obvious winner? I mean if the fight ends in the 9th round that means somebody got stopped by TKO or by KO. How do they go to the scorecards in the ninth round, unless the fight is stopped by an accidental head butt, and then they have to go to the scorecards? If that is the case man, you are really going out on a limb with your prediction. Good luck and if you are right with your prediction, I am going to ask you for the power ball numbers for next week. $hit, I am bound to get a big payday some way or another.
