Jaro may not be completely sleepless in Saitama (site of his title defense in Japan), but he has been losing some sleep over his excitement in getting to the ring for his title defense against Toshiyuki Igarashi.
And as far as the 30-year-old Silayano is concerned, he’s not leaving anything to the judges not only because he will be on enemy turf, he also has some skeptics to silence. “I have to win by knockout, so it will be more impressive,” Jaro told this scribe and Philboxing writer Chito Katangkatang at the Jaro Boxing Gym in Binangonan, Rizal. “There are a lot of people that have been saying that my win over Wonjongkam was purely luck. I want to show them that I’m here to stay as a champion for a long time.”
Jaro is doing light training at the famed Teikken Gym owned by Hall of Fame promoter Akihiko Honda while in Japan to maintain his superb conditioning from all the hard work he’s put in during training camp. His manager and trainer Aljoe Jaro was also able to scout the competition and assessed that there his ward has the edge in conditioning, while not giving away too much in the height depratment. ?I am very confident in this fight. I was happy with my training regime. Kuya Aljoe (Jaro) has done everything to ensure our victory, I will only do my part. Battles are won in the gym.,” Jaro told Katangkatang, and added, “Come fight night, I will just give the people a good show and go home to my country with my precious belts. I am not overconfident, Igarashi earned his shot through hard work. But come July 16, my haters will just shake their head in frustration. To my Kababayans, please pray for me.?
