WORLD Boxing Association (WBA) No.9 and WBC No.15-ranked Randy “Kumong Bato” Suico was calm and focused, throwing occasional smiles when his opponent tried the weighing scales during the official weigh in session of the Double Championship Fight, which unfolds tonight at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Suico has a lot of reasons for behaving so. First, his opponent, Pongpetch Chuwatana, needed three tries before making the 135/lbs. limit.
In the Thailander’s first try he was weighed at 137/lbs. Thirty minutes later he tried again and was weighed 135.5 lbs.
Weight limit
It was another 10 minutes before the Thai fighter finally made the weight limit.
“It’s one good sign, that means I already have an edge over him going to the fight night,” Suico said in Cebuano. The former amateur boxing standout scaled at exactly 135/lbs. on the first try.
The OPBF No.1 ranked Suico and OPBF No.2 Pongpetch will battle for the vacant lightweight title in the main event of the card presented by MP Promotions and RWS International Promotions.
