Earlier today at the Marriott in Manhattan Beach, California, two of the belt holders in the junior featherweight class weighed in ahead of their duel tomorrow night at the Home Depot Center in nearby Carson.
Hitting the scales first was WBO champion Nonito Donaire, who weighed in at 121.4 pounds. Having moved his camp back to the Bay Area for this particular fight, Donaire claims to have trained harder than ever and his body looks primed for war. An unknown commodity to some fans and insiders, Jeffrey Mathebula has been full of confidence and he took appears to be in tremendous shape, hitting the scales at 121.8 pounds. Following the weigh-in, the two fighters had an intense stare down with one another, perhaps a precursor as to what may be going down in their HBO-televised main event tomorrow night.
Donaire?s fights are often chalked full of drama and excitement and the brash nature of Mathebula appears to be adding to the equation this time around.
