Marquez Promised A Shot At Pacquiao

Juan Manuel Marquez is looking forward of getting a fourth fight with Manny Pacquiao on Nov. 10, according to information coming from Mexico City.

Marquez, who has waged three classic and controversial battles with Pacquiao in 2004, 2008 and 2011, has been promised of another shot at the Filipino southpaw by Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran.

Beltran is closely associated with Top Rank chief Bob Arum, having partnered in several big-time fights in the US and Mexico in the past.

Pacquiao will select among Marquez, Tim Bradley and Miguel Cotto as his foe for a Nov. 10 when he returns from a European vacation in about two weeks.

Bradley is also in the mix because he is under contract to grant Pacquiao a rematch although it doesn?t appeal much for Pacquiao and Arum.

Marquez, who turns 39 in August, is reportedly getting a tuneup fight on July 21 but might opt not to proceed and just focus on the Pacquiao showdown.

Beltran is said to be determined to bring the fight to the $300-million Mexico City Arena, which has a seating capacity of 22,300. It was inaugurated only last February.

The arena has hosted several concerts the past few months and is set to hold shows of Maroon 5 in August.

It was also at the same venue where Marquez beat Sergei Fedchencko of Ukraine last April.

Strutting his stuff on Mexican soil could save Pacquiao millions of dollars in taxes, something that Las Vegas cannot offer since the fighter has to pay the IRS.

But Las Vegas remains a top favorite to stage Pacquiao-Marquez IV owing to its unlimited resources and extraordinary appeal.
