MANILA, Philippines ? Former WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao personally received the letter of complaint from election lawyer Romulo Macalintal regarding his controversial split-decision loss to now-champion Timothy Bradley at his home in Los Angeles, California yesterday (Manila Time).
Macalintal said Pacquiao gladly welcomed the complaint, adding that its purpose is to protect the public?s and fans? interest in the sport of boxing.
?I am glad that you made this letter with the clarification that your intention is not to change the results of the fight but merely to protect the rights and interests of the viewing public and boxing in general?, Macalintal quoted Pacquiao as saying.
Macalintal?s complaint contains scores made by various sportswriters, wire agencies, boxing press and boxing fan forums unanimously favoring Pacquiao.
The complaint has been officially received by Ms. Renaldi of the Office of the Nevada Attorney General last June 18 and will be acted upon by the said office in due time.
A WBO panel recently found Pacquiao winning the fight lopsidedly.
