Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao are going meet next week to discuss the Filipino boxing icon’s future. Arum has been mum on plans for Pacquiao’s next fight, but the foregone conclusion boils down to either a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez or a rematch with Timothy Bradley, Jr.
For the most part, and for the time being at least, several boxing fans have given the proposition of a rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley the cold shoulder.
“Real talk, Bradley doesn’t deserve to make another mil to fight Pac! He can have that belt! Fake@$$ Champion!! You watch, Bradley is going to do whatever it takes to entice Pacquiao,” wrote Ryo Del Calzada, an avid Pacquiao fan.
“F*ck No! I’d rather watch the WWE! My family, friends and I have actually decided to boycott the rematch if it happens. We’ll just get the results online and then watch it free later on HBO,” wrote Mark Manglicmot.
But there are some who are open to watching a rematch, if only to see their idol settle the score and show that he has some fire left in him.
“I kind of want to see the rematch just to clear everything up. But I also feels like the rematch will be much more boring because I am sure that Bradley won’t try to engage anymore and will just try to outbox Pacquiao and win by points.,” wrote Buddy Tancio.
“Yes! Just to confirm if Manny lost his fire. For now I really think that only Mayweather can bring back the old Pacquiao,” wrote Crispher Cabal.
If I were to choose between the two match-ups, I’d go for a fourth fight with Marquez. Honestly, I could care less who wins. I just want to see it again. Marquez and Pacquiao bring out the best in each other, and truthfully despite their record against the other, either man can claim dominance.
Pacquiao beat Bradley, that is very much clear. If the correct verdict was adjudged, nobody would want to see that fight again, so why even bother when they couldn’t even get it right the first time? Will you want a trilogy if they blow it again? This fight has left such a bitter taste in people’s mouth that almost nobody would want to remember or see it again. Just move on.
On the other hand, Pacquiao has a real settle to score with the Mexican legend. If a fourth fight with Marquez isn’t enough to motivate him, I don’t know what else will. No need to bother over fighting Floyd Mayweather, Jr. In my opinion, if Pacquiao can’t even figure out how to beat Marquez, Mayweather will simply toy with him.
